We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Logistics Operations Supervisor to join our client in Gourock.
 
The Logistics Operations Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the logistics team and will be accountable for the delivery of logistics support; including how spare parts are transported; stored; maintained in storage and the onward distribution of goods to serve Fleet Management goals and KPI’s.

  • The role requires an experienced Logistics Supervisor that has demonstrable evidence of leading teams and people, supporting and adapting to change and continuous improvement and creating a coaching culture that supports our employees to achieve their full potential. 
  • Educated to HND level or equivalent, in a relevant Business or Logistics related subject
  • Relevant qualifications and certification from either CILT, CIPS or BIFA
  • Highly experienced in Logistics & Supply Chain management of high value engineering, or marine projects. 
  • Working knowledge of maritime & logistics regulations - ISM Code, ISPS Code, SOLAS, Class Rules and applicable Statutory Legislation. 
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution. 
  • Ability to challenge the status quo, suggest alternative approaches and promote change and continuous improvement.  
  • Evidence of working proactively and at high pace, delivering critical, exacting, and complex targets in difficult circumstances.
  • Evidence of working in a highly unionised environment and experience of consultation and negotiation with unions.
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Ensuring that required safety standards are managed in areas under their control, and that the appropriate safety equipment is used.
  • Supervising and prioritising logistics requirements relating to ashore fleet spares and equipment.
  • Supervising and prioritising the activities of the department, which includes the Fleet spares team, co-ordinating the provision of overtime and week-end standby cover for the group of employees to meet the company’s requirements.
  • Ensuring the receipt and storage of technical items received on site.
  • Issuing of parts & technical consumables as required.
  • Ensuring that stock records are kept of technical items on hand and issued, and that the location of all items and fleet spares and equipment are known and appropriately identified in conjunction with CPS (Computerised stock control).
  • Ensuring that any company vehicles allocated to their care are kept clean and tidy, that fuel uplifts and mileage are recorded monthly, and the vehicles are serviced at the appropriate intervals.
  • Assisting sourcing and procurement of spare parts and materials for use at breakdowns, annual overhauls and in service as required by Superintendents and occasionally Technical Manager’s.
  • Ensuring records of maintenance schedules for plant, machinery & ready to use spare units are kept up to date.
  • Control of major vessels strategic key spares in conjunction with the responsible Technical Manager’s and Shore Service team.
  • Assisting Small Vessels with management & development of spares inventory in conjunction with EIC North & South.
  • Manage the handing and despatch of items from vessels for repair or return.
  • The operation of a forklift as required.
  • Computerised Stock Control.
  • Support the strategy for the Centre of Excellence for Logistics.  
  • Work closely with the Supply Chain and Standards and Performance teams on logistics strategy for current and future vessel maintenance requirements. 
  • Develop, implement and report on the Logistics business initiatives as part of the annual business plan.  
  • Monitor and analyse performance, implementing a culture of continuous improvements. 
  • Work closely with Fleet Management teams to provide logistics support to ensure safe and efficient vessel management. 
  • Create, develop and implement agreed KPIs to monitor self and others
  • Create positive relationships with all stakeholders.   
  • Recognise, develop, coach and mentor talent within the team. 
  • Devise learning and development plans for the team. 
  • Promote shared ownership of goals and objectives across departments.

REMUNERATION PACKAGE ON OFFER 
 
Salary £48,000pa.  Benefits include 37 days annual leave (pro-rata), staff travel pass and an industry leading pension.
