Our client is looking for an Onshore Mechanical Technician to join their Flexlay Solutions Team in Aberdeen.  The Onshore Mechanical Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, rectification, and readiness of flexlay assets (Reel Drive Systems, Tensioners, HPUs) to ensure seamless project deployment.
This Onshore Mechanical Technician role includes preparing assets for deployment, inspecting them upon return, and performing necessary rectifications to maintain operational efficiency and safety standards.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
  • A proactive and continuous approach to safety, technical, industry and company standards as well as client site safety initiatives.
  • Experience working with Flexlay equipment, tensioners and winches.
  • HNC (or equivalent) in Engineering (Preferred)
  • Modern Apprenticeship (or equivalent) in Engineering (Essential)
  • Able to demonstrate competence in reading and understanding mechanical assembly and Hydraulic drawings (Essential)
  • Good level of secondary education (Essential)
  • Able to identify and use technical tools and instruments (Essential)
  • Able to fact find, fault identify, and problem solve (Preferred)
  • UK driving licence
JOB DESCRIPTION
 
Maintenance and Rectification:
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on flexlay assets to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical issues promptly to minimise downtime and ensure continuous operations.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance records and report any recurrent issues for further analysis and improvement.
Asset Preparation for Project Deployment:
  • Inspect and test flexlay assets before deployment to ensure they meet project specifications and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with project managers and engineers to align asset readiness with project timelines.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment required for deployment are in good condition and properly calibrated.
Inspection and Rectification Post-Project:
  • Conduct thorough inspections of returned flexlay assets to assess their condition and identify any wear, damage, or required maintenance.
  • Execute necessary repairs and adjustments to return assets to optimal working condition.
  • Update maintenance logs with findings and actions taken post-project to inform future maintenance schedules.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Collaborate with the asset team to suggest improvements in asset design and maintenance procedures.
  • Participate in training programs to stay current with technological advancements and best practices in mechanical maintenance.
  • Contribute to the development of maintenance procedures and protocols to enhance efficiency and safety.
