Technical Design Engineer

We are recruiting for an Industrial Technical Design Engineer to work with our London based client on an initial 6-month contract basis.   
 
Working within the Industrial Operations department, you will be part of the Industrialization team.  As an Industrial Technical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the definition and design of new tooling and equipment to simplify the assembly of Optical/ Electrical products in Production whilst maintaining quality and reliability. 
 
Please note this is a fully on-site position, based in Greenwich.
 
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT 
  • Engineering degree or equivalent (mechanical, industrial, production).
  • Experience working on Creo CAD package.
  • Ability to make reliability engineering judgements under pressure.
  • Experience in a technical and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Organised, disciplined & methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Motivated with strong interpersonal & team skills.
  • Sound practical experience with Excel and Word.
 
JOB DESCRIPTION  
  • Work closely with Supply Chain Engineers and Research & Development Engineers in the design and Industrialisation of new submerged products.
  • Defines and designs tooling and equipment required to simplify product assembly and test, ensuring reliable and consistent build methods.
  • Propose alternative tooling solutions to address various assembly requirement and build time reductions.
  • Design tooling using Creo CAD package to the required specification for quotation, manufacture and 3D modelling.
  • Use of Creo CAD package in line with company procedure.
  • Provide presentation for new tooling concepts.
  • Sourcing of external equipment to aid and improved production operations.
  • Working with Tooling Manufactures to answer any technical questions promptly and professionally.
  • Ensuring on time delivery of tooling.
  • Inspection of new tooling upon delivery to Greenwich to ensure conformance with drawing specification.
  • Define the calibration period & inspection requirement for each tooling. Maintain in-house maintenance databases where applicable.
  • Validation of new tooling on various mechanical models to ensure they are fit for purpose.
  • Training of Operators in the use of new tooling and build processes.
  • Working within the Supply Chain Engineering team to oversee the build of qualification models, ensuring correct build method and correct use of new tooling.
  • Understand and comply with the clean area environmental rules.
  • Adhere to mandatory Quality and Safety procedures, including build documentation, ESD, Risk assessments, COSHH and Manual Handling regulations.
