Our client, based in Fife, are recruiting for a Technical Superintendent to join their team on a full-time permanent basis.  As a Technical Superintendent you will be responsible for the maintenance and technical operations of a fleet of vessels plant and machinery to the highest standards.
 
THE SUCCESFUL APPLICANT
  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualification in a pertinent technical field.
  • Experience in a previous technical role where you have been responsible for technical management of a vessel.
  • Engineering OOW CoC.
  • Workboat experience and workboat code knowledge (preferred).
  • Understanding of marine regulations, classification rules, guidance, industry best practice and quality standards.
  • Be able to demonstrate a high level of competence in all aspects of marine operations, including technical maintenance and overhaul overhauls/dockings and projects
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Right to work and live in the UK currently holding ILR.
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Oversee all maintenance activities related to the company’s vessels, including routine inspections, repairs, and scheduled maintenance to ensure vessels are in optimal operating condition.
  • Coordinate the procurement of spare parts, equipment, and services necessary for vessel maintenance and repair operations.
  • Develop and execute efficient planned maintenance systems for all company vessels under your jurisdiction, including those managed technically.
  • Liaise with clients and company management to devise and elucidate maintenance procedures and strategies, ensuring alignment with appropriate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), where applicable.
  • Ensure that newly acquired vessels conform to commercial and statutory standards, striving to ensure their suitability for their intended purposes, timely delivery, and effective integration into service.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on individual projects as needed.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of the Company’s technical knowledge base, thereby supporting its growth and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all relevant technical standards, including those prescribed by the Company, classification societies, and statutory bodies.
  • Collaborate with Chief engineers and vessel master’s to assess and rectify vessel defects, coordinating repairs to optimise vessel uptime.
  • Supervise the effective maintenance and operation of owned and managed vessels through the utilisation of the Company’s planned maintenance system.
  • Participate in training activities as necessary to meet Company regulations and comply with legislative requirements.
